Pink Flamingos

Sleaze-koningin Divine leeft met haar zoon Crackers en haar moeder Edie in een caravan. Trots noemen ze zichzelf ’the most filthiest people alive’. Maar er is competitie van het echtpaar Raymond en Conny, dat vrouwelijke lifters kidnapt om ze vervolgens door hun butler te laten bezwangeren.

Voor zijn eerste langspeelfilm in kleur, bracht de Amerikaanse filmmaker John Waters alle ingrediënten bij elkaar om zijn landgenoten te shockeren. Waters zegt er zelf over: ‘Pink Flamingos was an antihippie movie made for hippies who would be punks in two years. It’s a pothead movie. I wrote it on pot.’
